Generally speaking, Aviation connector can be divided into three parts: aviation plug contact body, insulator and shell.

1. Aviation plug contact body
It is usually formed by cutting or no cutting. Cylindrical pins and sockets are widely used because of their simple structure, reliable contact and easy processing of various specifications.
2. Insulator
Aviation connector insulators are used to fix the contact bodies, in addition to ensuring the mutual electrical insulation between multiple contact bodies, they also play the roles of guiding, positioning and sealing. The material and structure of the insulator directly affect the electrical and mechanical properties of the aviation plug. According to the hardness of the material, there are elastic, semi-hard and hard insulators. Commonly used materials are rubber, plastic, ceramics and glass.
3. Shell
The aviation connector housing secures and protects the insulator and the contact body. There are positioning, guiding and tightening mechanisms on the housing to ensure that the aviation plug can work correctly. The shell sometimes also plays the role of sealing, waterproof, fireproof and electric field shielding. The shell of the circular connector has locking types such as thread, bayonet and in-line self-locking, which is convenient for connection in the case of multiple contacts and large insertion force.
